One cruise, one small island, but with a big history…
the island of the kingdom of Odysseus – Ithaca
We start our cruise from Poros Port at 9:00am and we arrive around 10:30am at Vathi where you’ll have free time for coffee, visiting museums etc… Ithaca is not just an island It is a universal symbol of adventurous destination and nostalgia. The king, Odysseus, is the hero of the Odyssey and the Trojan War. He is the creator of the Trojan Horse with which the Greeks captured the city of Troy. The heritage of this spirit follows it’s current inhabitants. Vathi is the capital of Ithaca and in the middle of the port is the island of Lazareto, on which it was built in 1668 the church of the Savior, destroyed by earthquakes but rebuilt. The statue of Odysseus in Vathi helps you to feel the nostalgic atmosphere and to wander the alleys of this traditional Ionian city and visit the Archaeological and Folklore Museum.
After we sail to Kioni where is one of the most beautiful villages of Ithaca, with a magnificent and picturesque harbor that is a pole of attraction for many boats for it’s unique beauty and for the traditional taverns where you can try the traditional Greek cuisine. Ithaca has impressive secluded beaches with blue, crystal clear waters and green that reaches the sea, through which Filiato and Gidaki are two of the most beautiful beaches of the island with turquoise waters where we will have the opportunity to swim and relax (in one of the two) before returning to the Port of Poros at 4:00 pm…
…and the wisdom we’ll have gained from this trip… simple but important for every Ithaca of our lives…
”Always in your mind to have Ithaca, getting there is your destination…if you find her poor..she did not fool you…ITHACA provided you the beautiful trip…”
